JSCC International Award 2025
Japan Society of Coordination Chemistry (JSCC) invites candidates for the 19th JSCC International Award in 2025. This award is given to researchers in coordination chemistry with foreign citizenship who are recognized as having contributed to the development of coordination chemistry through outstanding achievements or pioneering research. Selection for this award will be made in accordance with the rules and the additional rules for JSCC International Award. The winner will be awarded at the 75th Conference of JSCC (15th – 17th September, 2025, Nagasaki University, Nagasaki, Japan). The rules and the additional rules can be found on the website of JSCC. Researchers with foreign citizenship who are recommended by other JSCC members can apply for this award. The application guidelines are as follows. The first round of screening for this award will be conducted from January to February 2025, followed by the second round of screening. The deadline for submission of materials for the first round of screening is 6th January (Mon.), 2025, and the deadline for submission of materials for the second round of screening is 7th February (Fri.), 2025. Please note that this is considerably earlier than the deadline for the other award applications. We are looking forward to receiving many applications.
Application guideline for JSCC International Award 2025
1．Qualification requirements
Applicants for this award must be a coordination chemist with foreign citizenship who is recognized as having contributed to the development of coordination chemistry through particularly outstanding or pioneering research. The application for this award is based on the recommendation of those who have been a member of JSCC at least one year as of 1st April 2025.
2. Documents to be submitted
• The first round of screening
(1) Brief description of accomplishments by the recommender (approximately one sheet of A4 paper, free format)
(2) List of main papers (free format)
• The second round of screening
(1) Recommendation Letter (pdf / word)
(2) Explanation of achievements (free format): Summary of the candidate’s achievements on about 3 pages of A4 size paper, including figures and tables, etc.
(3) List of achievements (free format): A list of up to 20 major papers, reports, reviews, commentaries, and books.
• The PDF files of the documents required for the first- and second-round screening should be electronically submitted to the JSCC office by each deadline. Once submitted, no replacement of the files will be allowed.
3. Notes on preparing submission documents
(1) Recommended type settings: 11 pt font, 40 lines on A4 paper.
(2) List of achievements: As for peer-reviewed papers, you may list in press papers while not those that have been submitted but not accepted yet in the list of achievements.
(3) The recommendation form can be downloaded from the website of JSCC.
4. Review period
The screening will be conducted by the end of March. In addition to the document review, interview with the nominators may be held between middle February and the end of March. The selection committee will inform the nominators of the interview schedule. Note that JSCC will not bear the travel expenses for the interview required by the nominators or the travel expenses of the award winner.
5. Requirements for the awardee
The awardee will be required to submit the award lecture abstract to be published in the abstract book of the 75th Conference of JSCC, and to give the award lecture at the conference. In addition, the awardee will be required to contribute an “Award Account” on the awarded research to the Bulletin of the Japan Society of Coordination Chemistry (BJSCC), which is scheduled to be published in 2026.
6. Others
The “Award Account” published in BJSCC will appear on a website of J-Stage.
