Rules for JSCC Award for Creative Research
We establish the Award in order to promote advances in coordination chemistry and JSCC.
Section 1 | A JSCC Award for Creative Research (hereinafter known as “this award”) shall be established and awarded to the individual who has achieved results in research that are deemed to be sufficiently pioneering and trailblazing to deepen learning in the fields in which Coordination Chemistry is involved, and to contribute to the development of Coordination Chemistry. |
Section 2 | The award shall be given to no more than two individuals every year. |
Section 3 | In order to be eligible for the Award a candidate shall have been a member of JSCC for five years or more on April 1 of the Award year. |
Section 4 | The Award shall consist of a shield that will be given at the Annual Symposium. |
Section 5 | The JSCC Awards Review Committee (here after the “Review Committee”) shall be responsible for the selection of the Award. Ten members of the Review Committee will be selected from JSCC members according to “Rules for Election of Review Committee Members”. The Vice president of JSCC shall be the chairman of the Review Committee. |
Section 6 | Selection of candidates shall be made in accordance with the provision of “Additional Rules for JSCC Award for Creative Research”. |
Section 7 | The chairman of the Review Committee shall report the result and its reason to the President by the date of a JSCC general meeting. |
Section 8 | These rules may be amended by a careful discussion at the Council and an approval at the general meeting. |
These rules become effective from September 11, 2016. |

Additional Rules for JSCC Award for Creative Research
(General rules)
Section 1 | These detailed regulations shall be based on Section 6 of the JSCC Award for Creative Research, and shall stipulate all matters deemed necessary for implementing the JSCC Award for Creative Research (hereinafter known as “this award”). |
(Entry)
Section 2 | Entry to the Award shall be by self-recommendation or a recommendation by other JSCC members. According to an entry method, entries shall submit necessary papers to the Office by a deadline. |
Section 3 | Recipients of the JSCC Award shall not be permitted to apply for this award. Also, recipients of the JSCC Research Encouragement Award shall not be permitted to apply for this award with the same research content. |
(Review and Review Committee)
Section 4 | Members and the chairman of the Review Committee will also hold the post of members and chairman of the JSCC Award review committee (hereafter the “Review Committee”). |
Section 5 | The person who recommended the candidate cannot become a member of the Review Committee. |
Section 6 | The chairman of the Review Committee call the Review Committee. The Review Committee should be held with the answers or the attendances of seven or more members among eleven members. |
Section 7 | As a basic rule, the review system shall be two stage review, screen applications and achievement explanation. |
Section 8 | The 1st stage review shall be a screen applications, and as a basic rule, no more than four candidates shall be selected by voting. |
Section 9 | At the 2nd stage review, the Review Committee shall listen the achievement explanation from the candidates selected by screen applications mentioned above. But it is not always when the review committee approve. The Review Committee shall not pay any travel expenses or transportation expenses for the achievement explanation. |
Section 10 | These additional rules may be amended by a careful discussion and an approval at the Council. |
Additional Remarks | The award winner shall submit an abstract of the Award lecture for a book of abstracts of the JSCC Annual Symposium. The Award winner shall contribute an Award Account on the winning research to “Bulletin of Japan Society of Coordination Chemistry” (BJSCC) which will be published in the next fiscal year. The award winner shall also contribute a Perspective to Dalton Transactions published by The Royal Society of Chemistry. |
These additional rules become effective from September 11th, 2016. |
