Rules for JSCC International Awards

We establish the Award in order to promote advances in coordination chemistry and JSCC.

Section 1 We establish the JSCC International Award (here after the “Award”).
Section 2 The Award will be given to a foreign researcher who contribute to promote advances in coordination chemistry with a remarkable or pioneering research.
Section 3 The Award shall consist of a certificate and a shield.
Section 4 The JSCC Awards Review Committee (here after the “Review Committee”) shall be responsible for the selection of the Award. Ten members of the Review Committee will be selected from JSCC members according to “Rules for Election of Review Committee Members of JSCC Award”. The Vice president of JSCC shall be the chairman of the Review Committee.
Section 5 Selection of candidates shall be made in accordance with the provision of “Additional Rules for JSCC International Award”.
Section 6 The chairman of the Review Committee shall report the result and its reason to the President by the date of JSCC general meeting.
Section 7 The Award shall be given at the Annual Symposium.
Section 8 The enforcement of these rules shall be according to “Additional rules for JSCC International Award”.
Section 9 These rules may be amended by a careful discussion at the Council and an approval at the general meeting.
Supplementary provision These rules become effective from February 19, 2007.

Additional Rules for JSCC International Awards

(General rules)

Section 1 These additional rules lay down required items for the JSCC International Award (here after the “Award”) according to the provision of section 8 of “Rules for JSCC International Award”.
Section 2  As a basic rule, the award shall be given to no more than one individual every year.
Section 3 Entry to the Award shall be submitted through the recommendation of JSCC members. According to an entry method, the recommender shall submit necessary documents to the president of JSCC by a deadline.
Section 4 The JSCC Awards Review Committee (here after the “Review Committee”) shall be responsible for the selection of the Award.
Section 5 The person who recommended the candidate cannot become a member of the Review Committee.
Section 6 The chairman of the Review Committee shall call for Review Committee meetings. Review Committee meetings shall be pronounced valid in the event of seven or more of the eleven members being in attendance, or providing their responses to items on the agenda in writing.
Section 7 As a basic rule, the review system shall be two stage review, the 1st stage and the 2nd stage.
Section 8 Regardless of the number of applicants, the first screening shall involve votes submitted in writing based on reviews of documentation, and three or less nominees shall be selected in principle.
Section 9 The second screening shall involve voting after written explanations on the nominee achievements submitted by the persons recommending the nominees selected during the first screening have been evaluated.
Section 10 These rules may be amended by a careful discussion at the Council and an approval at the general meeting.
Additional Remarks Award winners shall submit a summarized outline of their award speech to be given at the Annual Symposium of JSCC held during the relevant fiscal year, and shall contribute an award account pertaining to their award-winning research to the Bulletin of Japan Society of Coordination Chemistry (BJSCC) issued during the following fiscal year.
These rules become effective from February 19, 2007.
